David Berkowitz founded Radar Asset Management in 2011 to consult on transportation investment sector issues including; aviation investment strategy, workout advisory, lease portfolio management, lessee credit analysis and risk management, and lessor financing strategies.
David spent 15 years at MetLife in the fixed income investment department, first as Team Leader for Capital Goods and Transportation sectors, specializing in aircraft and leasing company debt, and later in the Private Placement Group. As co-founder, lead originator and portfolio manager of the structured lease team, he managed aircraft and other transportation debt and lease equity equipment investments totaling over $1.5 Billion.
David’s investment management perspective is further informed by nine years at Lazard Frères Asset Management as a senior credit analyst, bond portfolio manager and trader, as well as his experience as senior credit risk manager at Nomura Securities.
David is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and has an MBA in Finance from the NYU Stern School of Business. He is a member of the ISTAT Appraisers Program Board of Governors and an active speaker and panelist in ISTAT’s continuing education programming, where he enjoys teaching and advocating for the shared benefit of appraisers and investors alike.
Regarded as a thought leader in the field, David has published articles and been quoted and interviewed in the financial press on capital markets aircraft financings, airlines, leasing and credit risk. A resident of Summit, NJ, David enjoys traveling, biking and skiing. He is an avid reader of aviation and space history and likes to use a telescope and apps to explore the night sky.
